Greg and Shasta Nelson, as spiritual teachers and life strategists, firmly believe that their most significant training has come from the ups-and-downs of life—which includes not only a long history in congregational leadership but also their own transition through jobs, issues with self-identity, divorce and re-marriage, along with the stories of countless others who have trusted them into their hearts in some of life’s most vulnerable moments like births, “coming-out” experiences, marriages, addiction, divorces, family pain & deaths. Their picture of God and the necessity for spirituality to impact the reality of life motivate their ministry in an honest way as they speak freely about their own failures, losses and struggles.

Shasta’s training includes a bachelors degree in Communication and a Masters Degree in Spiritual Growth. Greg studied theology/biblical languages for his undergraduate, a Masters of Divinity degree in Spirituality, and later earned a Doctor of Ministry degree from Fuller Theological Seminary with an emphasis in personal and organizational effectiveness. Their combined professional experience includes counseling, coaching leaders and teams, speaking at international motivational and teaching venues, organizing events and retreats, and starting 2 non-profits. Shasta has served as a pastor at multiple churches over the last ten years while Greg brings over 30 years of personal coaching and congregational leadership. He’s also the proud father of three adult children.

Greg & Shasta lead Second Wind by joining their individual personalities, strengths and styles in a synergy that encourages creative energy, bold vision and lots of fun. It's about wanting to contribute to something significant that can’t be contained by church labels, religious agendas or denominational motivations.

They both enjoy using their gifts of speaking, teaching, writing and music as ways to connect meaningfully with people.
